Chameleon lobster

No, this lobster hasn’t been in a boiling pot, it’s still alive! This rare red-orange coloured lobster, Gumbo, has found a new home at Birmingham Sea Life Centre.
Lobsters are normally a brown/green colour and only turn orange when they have been cooked. Their diet consists of marine life that contain cartenoid pigments such as shrimp and algae. When the lobster is cooked, the pigment is freed and gives them that distinct orange colour!
