The birds and the bees in their 60s!
Meet ‘Wisdom’, a Laysan albatross who has just raised a new chick…despite being at least 60 years old! She has been studied by scientists since 1956 when she nested in the North Pacific. Not only has she outlived the normal age for these birds but she’s worn out five sets of bands used to identify her! Just her age is incredible but scientists are amazed that at her ripe old age she is still fertile.
